Derek Jones joined Spartan Stores in August 2006 from Unisource Worldwide, Inc., North America’s leading independent marketer and distributor of commercial printing and business imaging papers, packaging systems, facility supplies and equipment. While serving as Vice President of Distribution for the company’s eastern region covering 35 states, 48 distributions centers and $3 billion in annual delivery sales, he achieved significant distribution network productivity improvements and lowered network operating costs. Prior to Unisource, Derek held various positions in senior level operations management, supply chain operations and distribution with some of the nation’s most respected retail store operators including Office Depot, Walgreen’s and Wal-Mart.
Derek leads the supply chain and logistic areas of Spartan Stores’ growing, value-added grocery distribution operation.
